Preparing for Your Procedure
Prescriptions
Guests are encouraged to bring their own prescriptions filled before surgery as a cost savings measure. At your preoperative doctor's appointment ask your plastic surgeon for any prescriptions you will need. Please make sure that you have at least one prescription for pain medication and one prescription for nausea medication filled. You do NOT want to be stuck without these! Keep in mind that although Dr. Holinga is a physician, your care remains under that of your plastic surgeon and for your safety he or she will be the ONLY physician prescribing you postoperative medication. We have made arrangements with several of the pharmacies in town so that if you require new or additional medication your surgeon can call it in and it can be delivered quickly.
Home Medication Clarification/Post-Op Instructions
Bring any home medication with you that you will need to take during your stay with us. Also, have your surgeon fill out the Post-Op Instructions order sheet and bring this with you to your recovery. ALL POST-OP MEDICATIONS (i.e. pain & nausea meds, antibiotics, etc.), as well as, ALL HOME MEDICATIONS that should be given during your recovery should be included on this order sheet. In addition, for our preoperative night guests, make sure you are clear which medications you may take the morning of surgery. Remember to tell your doctor if you are taking herbal supplements because many of these can thin your blood and may need to be stopped prior to your procedure.
Surgical Compression Garments & Surgical Bras
Check with your plastic surgeon to find out if you will need to purchase any surgical garments for your recovery and remember to bring these with you on the day of surgery. You may also purchase these from us during your stay should you need them once you are here.
Postoperative Doctor's Appointments
At the time of your preoperative appointment you will likely be scheduled for a postoperative appointment. Call us at your convenience with this information so that we may make appropriate transportation arrangements for you.
